- The aim is to build a sustainable network that promotes intercultural exchange, breaks down language barriers and makes it easier for refugees to enter academic and social life.
- Assistance with visits to the authorities (e.g. residents' registration office, health insurance company)
- University-related support (e.g. registering for courses, finding the right contact)
- Tips for everyday life (e.g. shopping facilities, public transport, etc.)
- Involvement in student life (e.g. participation in university events)
JOIN the mentoring programme - Zoom meeting on 10 July 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Are you at home at our university and have settled in well? Are you open-minded, interculturally interested and want to help international exchange students find their feet in Germany?
Then become a buddy as part of our mentoring programme for exchange students!
What does that mean?
As a buddy, you will support one or more exchange students from abroad during their entire stay at our university. You will help them to find their way around everyday life at university and in Germany, for example by
- Supporting them in dealing with authorities and administrative hurdles.
- Showing them around the university and the neighbourhood.
- Helping them with questions about studying and culture.
- Simply being there for them and giving them a warm welcome.
Why should you take part?
- Intercultural skills: Broaden your horizons and get to know other cultures.
- Language practice: Improve your language skills, especially English.
- New friendships: Make contacts with students from all over the world.
- Personal development: Gain valuable experience in dealing with different cultures and people.
- Meaningful leisure activities: Get involved in a good cause and help others to feel good.
