Offers for exchange students

The International Office and the Paderborn student initiative Eurobiz jointly organise an extensive orientation and event programme for exchange students.

As part of the events programme, numerous day and weekend excursions as well as country evenings, football and volleyball tournaments, barbecues and parties take place during the semester. A weekly get-together offers exchange and Eurobiz students the opportunity to get to know each other even better.

All members of Eurobiz work on a voluntary basis. They have either already studied abroad or are planning a stay abroad. They are therefore looking forward to supporting the exchange students in Paderborn and to the joint activities.

Tip: After your arrival, sign up for the Eurobiz e-mail distribution list or Facebook group so that you are informed about all activities in good time.

Programmes

The orientation programme of the International Office in cooperation with Eurobiz takes place before and during the semester and includes the following activities:

An official welcome event, where the first steps in Paderborn and administrative questions are explained. This always takes place on the first Tuesday in September or March. The activities include

A guided tour of the campus and the university

An intercultural workshop ‘Living and studying in Germany’

A city tour of Paderborn with the support of Eurobiz

The programme of events includes numerous activities for exchange students, which are organised by the International Office in cooperation with the Eurobiz team, such as day trips, weekend excursions, country evenings, but also a guided tour of the library and introductions to studies in certain faculties. Shortly before the start of the programme, you will receive an overview of all activities during the upcoming semester in our ‘Arrival Mail’.

To make your start in Paderborn easier, the International Office will be happy to find you a buddy - i.e. a Paderborn student who will help you with your first steps in your new city.

Your buddy will support you with administrative steps, for example setting up a bank account and university account, registering with the residents' registration office, etc. In addition, the buddies can of course also help with general questions: Where is the best place to go shopping? Where is the nearest bus stop? And how do you sort your rubbish?

With your buddy, you have a helpful contact person in Paderborn - and sometimes this develops into a friendship for life.
